About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive team in a primary school in Carnforth. This is a full-time, general TA position, supporting the teaching and learning of pupils across KS2. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of core subjects, particularly Maths and English, and be committed to helping children reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the class teacher to support learning in the classroom.
  • Assist in the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences for pupils.
  • Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, particularly in Maths and English, to reinforce learning and address gaps in understanding.
  • Support pupils with different learning needs, ensuring that all children have equal access to the curriculum.
  • Help prepare resources and materials to support lessons.
  • Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing feedback to the teacher.
  • Promote positive behaviour and social development in line with the school's policies.
  • Provide pastoral support, helping to build children's confidence and independence.
  • Support with classroom organisation, displays, and maintaining a stimulating learning environment.
  • Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime as required.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • A relevant qualification (e.g., minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification)
  • Experience working with children in a primary school setting, ideally in KS2.
  • A deep understanding of KS2 Maths and English, including national curriculum requirements.
  • The ability to support children in developing core literacy and numeracy skills.
  • A patient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to working with young learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Good organisational skills and adaptability.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience working with children with SEND or additional needs.
  • Knowledge of phonics schemes, guided reading strategies, and mastery approaches in maths.
