Teaching Assistant (KS2) - Full-Time Position

Salary: £14.20 per hour
Contract Type: Fixed Term

About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic and supportive team in a primary school in Carnforth. This is a full-time, general TA position, supporting the teaching and learning of pupils across KS2. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of core subjects, particularly Maths and English, and be committed to helping children reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the class teacher to support learning in the classroom.
- Assist in the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning experiences for pupils.
- Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups, particularly in Maths and English, to reinforce learning and address gaps in understanding.
- Support pupils with different learning needs, ensuring that all children have equal access to the curriculum.
- Help prepare resources and materials to support lessons.
- Monitor and record pupils' progress, providing feedback to the teacher.
- Promote positive behaviour and social development in line with the school's policies.
- Provide pastoral support, helping to build children's confidence and independence.
- Support with classroom organisation, displays, and maintaining a stimulating learning environment.
- Supervise pupils during break and lunchtime as required.
Person Specification
Essential:
- A relevant qualification (e.g., minimum Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification)
- Experience working with children in a primary school setting, ideally in KS2.
- A deep understanding of KS2 Maths and English, including national curriculum requirements.
- The ability to support children in developing core literacy and numeracy skills.
- A patient, proactive, and enthusiastic approach to working with young learners.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good organisational skills and adaptability.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Desirable:
- Experience working with children with SEND or additional needs.
- Knowledge of phonics schemes, guided reading strategies, and mastery approaches in maths.
