The RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic Media Studies Teacher to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a strong passion for media and communication, along with the ability to inspire students at Key Stages 4 and 5. Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging, high-quality Media Studies lessons that challenge and inspire students.
- Teach Media Studies across Key Stages 4 and 5, including GCSE and A-Level courses.
- Foster critical thinking and creativity by exploring media production, analysis, and theory.
- Develop schemes of work and assessment materials aligned with curriculum standards.
- Provide constructive feedback and differentiated support to help students achieve their potential.
- Incorporate the use of technology and practical media production techniques into teaching.
- Support students in developing a strong understanding of contemporary media trends, representation, and industry practices.
- Participate in departmental meetings, professional development, and extracurricular activities to enrich the learning experience.
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialization in Media Studies, English, or a related field.
- Proven experience teaching Media Studies at Key Stages 4 and 5, with a track record of excellent student outcomes.
- Strong subject knowledge of media theory, production, and analysis, including familiarity with current exam board specifications.
- The ability to inspire and engage students with diverse learning needs.
- Excellent classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.
- Practical experience in media production, including video editing, photography, and digital media tools.
- Knowledge of industry-standard software such as Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, or Final Cut Pro.
- Experience organizing extracurricular activities such as media clubs, school broadcasts, or film projects.
- Familiarity with the cultural and social implications of media and how they relate to young people's lives.
