Are you an experienced Primary School Teacher, with a passion for teaching students with Special Educational Needs? This could be the perfect role for you!

We are currently recruiting for a specialist SEN School in Sutton dedicated to supporting children with a variety of Special Educational Needs including ASD, PMLD and complex needs. The School caters to students aged 3-19.

The School are currently recruiting for a Primary Teacher to teach KS2 students with complex needs. You will be teaching the whole curriculum (All general subjects). Students may display some challenging behaviours.

This is full-time, long-term role and will be with a view to going permanent. The hours will be from 9am-4pm. The salary will be equal to the main Teachers’ pay scale plus SEN points.

You will be responsible for delivering tailored lessons to meet the unique learning and developmental needs of students with complex needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children’s lives and help them thrive both academically and personally.

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment to ensure students are engaged in the lessons.
  • Use a variety of teaching strategies, including sensory-based and communication-focused approaches.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching methods where required.
  • Ensure a safe and structured learning environment, implementing behaviour support strategies where necessary.

The ideal applicant will have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching children with complex needs in an SEN setting.
  • A strong understanding of a range of SEN, including ASD, PMLD, and communication difficulties.
  • Knowledge of alternative communication methods (e.g., PECS, Makaton) is desirable.
