Position Summary:

We are seeking a reliable and dedicated Cover Supervisor to join our team at a thriving school in Carterton, Oxfordshire. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising classes during the short-term/long-term absence of teachers, ensuring that students continue their learning in a supportive and controlled environment. This role is crucial in maintaining continuity of education and managing classroom behavior effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Classroom Supervision: Supervise students in the classroom, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Lesson Delivery: Deliver pre-prepared lesson plans and instructions left by the absent teacher, ensuring that students remain engaged and on task.
  • Behavior Management: Implement the school's behavior management policy to maintain discipline and address any issues that arise during the lesson.
  • Student Engagement: Foster a positive learning environment by encouraging student participation and engagement with the lesson material.
  • Administrative Tasks: Complete any necessary administrative tasks related to the supervision of classes, including attendance recording and reporting on lesson outcomes.
  • Support Learning: Assist students with their learning as necessary, answering questions and providing guidance on the tasks set.
  • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents/guardians regarding any issues or concerns that arise during the lesson.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to different subjects and year groups as required, demonstrating versatility and a willingness to cover a variety of classes.
  • Classroom Setup: Prepare the classroom for lessons, ensuring that resources and materials are available and organized.
  • Professional Development: Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance supervisory skills and stay updated with educational practices.
  • School Policies: Adhere to all school policies and procedures, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for students.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. A degree or relevant qualification in education or a related field is preferred.
