Zachary Daniels Recruitment is delighted to be once again supporting our market leading client in the appointment of a Regional Team Manager to bring into their established logistics, transport and distribution operation.

Are you a Transport Supervisor or Transport Team Leader looking to progress into a Transport Manager role? If so, we have an incredible development opportunity for someone who is motivated and people-focused.Our client will support you in obtaining your CPC in Transport Management so don't let this hold you back from applying. This role will be Monday-Friday and primarily office- based in Castle Cary.

The role of the Regional Team Manager is to support the National Transport Manager in the effective and compliant running of our clients UK transport operation. This includes managing the day to day operational activity to meet customer and cost demands, ensuring SLA'a and KPI's are met and/or exceeded. The individual will hold the responsibility to visit UK locations on a routine basis ensuring requirements are fully met.

An integral part of this role is the leadership of team members across the transport department. As a strong capable leader, your experience as a professional people manager will enable you to effectively motivate a team both onsite and remotely, ensuring they work to the highest professional standards. A strong and capable decision maker who can pull on experience to make sound judgement calls and implement continuous improvement initiatives in a controlled, measured and clearly communicated way. Collaboration is key too, with strong allegiances to our Warehousing team members, including the distribution center managers. Alongside people management skills, the individual is compliance savvy in line with MHRA regulations, GDP regulations, GDPR requirements and driving laws.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to oversea the complete employee lifecycle for team members.

  • Ability to effectively performance manage team members to create an effective team.

  • Carry out annual reviews and regular 121 check in with team members, develop talent and be mindful of succession plans.

  • Complete managerial day to day tasks - from holidays, timesheets, absence management, investigations, disciplinary meetings.

  • A continuous improvement mindset - ability to challenge the status quo

  • Work with the national transport manager to develop yearly budget and ensuring management of Direct and Indirect costs in full compliance with approved budget

  • Manages depot costs through focus on areas within their sphere of influence.

  • Manages operation in accordance with O Licence requirements and audits fleet files on a regular basis.

  • Ensures all legal compliance requirements for vehicles are met. Forms a strong link with local maintenance provider to minimise hire requirements. VOR's vehicles where necessary. - Uses secondary suppliers to audit standards.

  • Ensure full compliance from all team members, from good distribution practice to health and safety (and everything in between)

  • Ensures all MHE checks are carried out and any faults reported for rectification.

  • Ensures all controls regarding visitors, fire requirements, first aid and training are met in accordance with company policy.

  • Ensures correct levels of trained personnel are on site regarding fire and first aid. Raises all training needs with Transport Office and see's through to completion.

  • Effectively manages all vehicle RTI's and damages. Focuses on driver training and pride in vehicles. Utilises the de-brief process to deliver the highest standards and operational efficiencies.

  • Regular travel to other sites owned or associated with MWI as required

  • A people person - a desire to grow and develop individuals

  • Organized and structured in their work

  • Knowledge of driver's hours and of maintenance compliance.

  • Proficient with MS packages

  • A person, who develops great relationships, fosters collaboration with other functions & departments, at all levels would be a key candidate.

  • Manage KPI performance.
