I am now delighted to be recruiting for an experienced Project Accountant, to join an innovative, high growth and forward thinking PE backed business in Castleford.   The successful candidate will join and an integral member of the Group Finance team, working with senior operational staff, senior stakeholders, and reporting to the Senior Finance team within the business.The role will primarily focus on ensuring accurate reporting of revenue, accrued income, materials, inventory and related direct costs to ensure that Gross Margin is accurately recorded in line with relevant accounting standards. Project Accounting is also a key element of the role, ensuring on a project by project basis financial records are robust and accurate, as well as providing relevant financial analysis and reports on the profitability of jobs.The role would be ideally suited to someone who is finalist or fully qualified ACA, CIMA or ACCA and not afraid to get stuck in – the role will be varied and provide an outstanding opportunity to support the Finance team as they venture into further consolidation and accelerated growth!The key duties of the role will include:
  • Periodic accounting to ensure income and costs recognised in accordance with accounting standards and ensure accrued / deferred income and costs captured correctly.
  • Provision of relevant financial analysis on the profitability and efficiency of the business units, including variance analysis of actual versus budget/forecast.
  • Supporting on ensuring accurate reporting in management accounts including analysis and commentary of the financial result each period.
  • Working with and supporting the Operational Teams in ensuring accurate business reporting and good operational/cost control.
  • Ensure all materials are booked in and out of inventory accurately and on a timely basis to ensure accurate costs on a project by project basis
  • Preparation of relevant balance sheets,
  • Supporting on the external audit by ensuring robust reconciliations and support is in place
  • Working with the Directors to support the preparation of budgets and forecasts for all projects, ensuring the operational team have a full understanding of financial expectations.
  • Ensuring that periodic stock counts are carried out and analyse any stock write offs
The successful candidate will:
  • Be Finalist or fully Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) - Essential
  • Have good knowledge of accounting principles and their appropriate application - Essential
  • Have project/construction accounting experience - Desirable
  • Be highly credible and able to quickly build effective working relationships – Essential
  • Be Analytical, accurate and detailed – Essential
