Our client, a leading Print company based in Castleford, is looking for an Estimator to join them on a permanent basis.

As the Estimator, you will be a proactive member of the Client Services team providing Estimating and Technical Support to the internal departments for the mutual benefit of the business and the customer.

Main Duties:

  • To provide technical support to the Client Services Team / Commercial Team / Production Team / Business Development Team. This may involve technical/production advice, estimating, job processing, NCR processing, and supplier management.
  • Manage the outwork process, this will involve providing estimates that include an outwork process or are fully traded.
  • Managing the jobs through production - agreeing onlead times, making sure the jobs are dispatched on time and delivered back on time, reporting issues to the relevant department, NCR processing and supplier management.
  • Be technically up to date with the products and services of sites and other business UK sites.
  • Be technically up to date with the Optimus system and capable of; Estimating, Order Processing (Manufactured, Manufactured with Outwork and Traded orders), Stored Job Processing, Supplier Requisitions, NCR Processing, and Technical Planning / Re-planning of jobs.
  • Processing of intercompany jobs where work is required on a job over two sites.
  • NCR Prevention - Provide technical advice on jobs entered by Client Services team to make sure job bags are technically planned correctly prior to being passed to production.
  • Review actual production performance against estimate and make recommendations concerning variances.
  • Complete Customer tender templates under agreed deadlines.
  • Maintain a profile in customer online bidding systems and proactively review opportunities to maximise business wins from this source.
  • On processing or receipt of a job bag, check the technical specification of a job to make sure it is accurate prior to being sent to production.
  • When processing an order, monitor order acknowledgements, lead times and production queue to make sure customer orders are delivered on time.
  • Liaise with the warehouse team when processing orders (re-stock levels, shipping requirements, booking in products, proof of deliveries).

Required skills and experience:

  • Previous proven experience in an Estimator role
  • Excellent print, paper and supply base knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of the print trade, capability of printing presses, capability of the competition
  • High levels of numeracy and estimating skills
  • High levels of ability in spreadsheets (Excel.)
  • Strong command of Microsoft Word and E-mail packages.
