Area to be covered: North East to East Midlands – based near West Yorkshire

Remuneration: Up to £42,000 Neg. + 10% Bonus

The role of the Area Sales Manager – Construction Plant & Tool Hire will involve:

  • Field sales role, selling a distributed range of construction plant & tool hire, predominantly small plant such as mixers, saws, trench rammers etc. (huge portfolio) also selling excavators, dumpers, dozers and telehandlers etc.
  • 80% construction plant sales, 20% groundcare equipment
  • Selling into plant hire companies who supply to building contractors, main contractors, housebuilder developers, archaeologists and waste/ recycling contractors as well as smaller independent plant companies and groundcare contractors
  • Often used as an infill distributor when usual suppliers come up short
  • Reasonable for  an area only available due to a retirement
  • £5m ledger
  • Responsible for approx. 150 plant hire customers on patch, each with an average turnover of £10,000, but can be £50,000+
  • Technical role, need to understand mechanics, tools etc.
  • Multiple customer sites visits daily

The ideal applicant will be an Area Sales Manager – Construction Plant & Tool Hire with:

  • 2-3 years proven track record of construction field sales success
  • Construction hire industry experience preferred
  • Open to plant hire, tool hire, groundcare hire such as landscaping products
  • Will also consider builders merchant experience, either having worked for or sold into merchants and distributors as well as other plant hire compnaies
  • Preferable some formal sales training
  • Mechanically minded
  • Looking for a career move and longevity
  • Specific knowledge of mixers, saws, trench rammers etc  is not essential
  • Contacts within plant hire companies may be useful
  • Physically fit
