The role of the Engineering Manager is to lead, manage and continually develop an effective engineering support and maintenance service in line with KPI and budgetary targets that support the Site and Company Business Plan. Work closely with the production team to continuously improve site overall equipment effectiveness, people development and a lean culture.

Your Mission at Elis
  • Ensure that the company’s vision, values, QHSE policies and procedures are always adhered to.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations whilst analysing the results and ensuring corrective action is implemented to continuously improve the working environment.
  • Ensure risk assessments, COSSH/ RIDDOR/ EQUIPMENT, etc. are implemented and undertaken and accident prevention measures are initiated as required.
  • Lead the WECO monitoring, reduction and impact to the environment e.g. WECO usage within site and pro-active improvements to reduce WECO usage.
  • Manage the engineering team with hands on experience to mentor team ensuing that PPMs, corrective works, SSOWs and working procedures are followed.
  • Planning, organising and coordination of resources to meet production and safety requirements of ongoing maintenance, corrective works, machine replacement and unplanned issues.
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, repair of facilities and equipment as per production requirements.
  • Manage approved suppliers to obtain surveys, quotations, parts and machinery.
  • Management and delivery of training to engineering team and operators on new machinery, using the machinery documentation and SSOWs.
  • Ensure PPM schedule, plan and tasks are suitable, efficient and available to engineering team, monitored continuously for completion resolving any issues through feedback.
  • Responsible for engineering team; KPI’s, monitoring, managing and controlling activities in accordance with agreed functional budgets, investigating and resolving any variances.
  • Plan, monitor and ensure appropriate engineering team safety training is completed/ recorded so that safety culture is embedded at site.
  • Ensure corrective work is carried out safely, efficiently and in timely manner.
  • Where relevant work with the Engineering Manager to ensure retention of any relevant accreditations for site (e.g. ISO/EN14065).
What will make you stand out?
  • Proven management experience of industrial maintenance.
  • Held similar positions within manufacturing/ process industries.
  • Management of WECO experience with track record of success.
  • Management of boiler/ steam experience.
  • Operational maintenance experience (Essential).
  • Educated to degree level, HND, HNC or NVQ Level 5/ City & Guilds in relevant engineering field and/or time served as an Apprentice with experience of electrical/mechanical/steam operations.
  • Experience of implementing continuous improvement programmes.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH/ QHSE qualifications.
  • IT literate (Microsoft Office).
  • Able to work autonomously and drive change.
  • Ability to develop good working relationships that promote team working.
  • Financial knowledge covering budget creation & forecasting.
