About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team in Chatham, Kent. This rewarding role involves supporting secondary-aged students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. All our students have an Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP) and exhibit extremely challenging behaviour.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, helping them to engage with their learning and development.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to implement individualised education plans and behavioural strategies.
  • Manage and respond to challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
  • Assist with classroom activities and ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience working with young people
  • Experience working with SEN or SEMH needs.
  • Proven ability to handle severely challenging behaviour confidently and professionally.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to respond to the varying needs of students.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one.
