Operations Manager - Waste Recycling

50k Basic Salary (negotiable depending on experience) + Benefits

Based in Kent

As an Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of a Material Recycling Facility. You will ensure compliance with current legislation, environmental standards and health and safety regulations. You will also develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency, quality and performance of the waste and recycling services.

Job Summary:

  • Oversee the running of the material recycling plant and ensure minimal downtime.
  • Managing and supervising on site staff, contractors etc.
  • Report maintenance and cleanliness of all mobile site plant and static plant.
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality and performance of waste and recycling services, using data, statistics and reports.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures and best practices for waste and recycling operations, in line with government regulations and industry standards.
  • Operate plant as required by the directors to a standard that delivers the effective running of the material recycling facility with minimal downtime.
  • Provide training, guidance and support to waste and recycling staff, contractors and external providers.
  • Keep up to date with relevant legislation, regulations, trends and developments in the waste and recycling sector.
  • Fully employed and permanent position, based on a 45 hour week.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in the waste and recycling industry.
  • Knowledge of waste recycling legislation, regulations, standards and best practices.
  • Desirable if you hold a valid COTC accreditation for the treatment of non-hazardous waste.
  • Strong leadership, management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
