About the Role:

As an Environmental Protection Officer, you will be responsible for delivering a range of environmental protection activities, including contaminated land assessments, noise and air pollution monitoring, and environmental permitting. You will play a key role in both proactive and reactive environmental work, investigating complaints, managing projects, and enforcing relevant regulations.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting inspections to ensure compliance with statutory environmental provisions.
  • Investigating and addressing environmental complaints, ensuring effective resolution.
  • Preparing detailed reports and taking appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
  • Attending court hearings and public meetings as required.
  • Developing strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance service delivery.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • A relevant professional qualification to degree level or equivalent.
  • Excellent working knowledge of strategic environmental protection.
  • Postgraduate experience in licensing and planning consultancy, including major infrastructure projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in applying environmental legislation, policies, and enforcement actions.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own transport.

Desirable Skills & Knowledge:

  • A postgraduate qualification in acoustics, pollution control, or environmental sciences.
  • Experience with environmental permitting and contaminated land legislation.
  • Will have familiarity with the Control of Pollution Act and climate change mitigation strategies.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office 365 applications for reporting and analysis.
