Overview: The successful candidate will oversee all financial operations, reporting directly to the CFO and working closely with department heads to ensure the company’s financial health, compliance, and strategic growth. This is a key role in the organisation, offering an excellent opportunity to drive process improvements and provide financial insights that shape business decisions.Key Responsibilities:
  • Financial Planning & Analysis: Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes. Provide management with monthly financial updates, variance analysis, and strategic advice.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and annual statutory accounts in compliance with UK GAAP or IFRS.
  • Cost Management: Monitor manufacturing costs, including raw material procurement, labour, overheads, and production efficiencies. Analyse cost drivers and suggest ways to improve profitability.
  • Cash Flow Management: Oversee cash flow, manage working capital, and ensure efficient use of company resources. Provide forecasts to support operational and capital expenditure.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance: Maintain and enhance the company’s internal controls, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and company policies.
  • Audit & Tax: Manage external audits and liaise with auditors. Oversee tax filings, including VAT, corporation tax, and payroll taxes, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Team Leadership: Manage the finance team, providing mentoring, development, and performance management. Ensure the team operates effectively and efficiently.
  • Business Partnering: Collaborate with department heads to understand their financial needs, support decision-making, and provide financial insight into operational performance.
  • ERP System Oversight: Ensure the effective use of the company’s ERP system for accurate financial tracking and reporting. Work with IT to enhance system capabilities as needed.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified (or equivalent) with 5+ years of post-qualification experience, ideally within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong understanding of cost accounting, inventory management, and financial reporting standards (UK GAAP or IFRS).
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with experience in managing and developing finance teams.
  • Advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (experience with manufacturing-specific ERP systems is an advantage).
  • Demonstrated ability to manage financial processes and improve efficiency.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
