Job Title: Principal Instrumentation Engineer

Location: Manchester

Contract: 12 months

Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to projects under a well-established Master Service Agreement.
  • Engage in all project phases, including Conceptual Studies, Basic, FEED, and Detailed Design.
  • Focus on control and instrumentation (C&I) engineering tasks for process plants and facilities, spanning the Chemical, Petrochemical, Power, and Energy Transition sectors.
  • Develop and manage C&I Engineering deliverables as required per project.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Experience: Proven expertise in instrumentation design for medium to large capital projects, covering concept through start-up.
  • Industry Expertise: Significant background in the Chemical, Petrochemical, and Oil & Gas sectors.
  • Collaboration: Skilled in multidisciplinary coordination, especially within contracting environments.
  • Communication: Excellent proactive communication skills, with experience liaising with Client Engineers and Project Management.
  • Educational Requirements: Degree qualified in a relevant discipline.
  • Professional Credentials: Chartered Engineer status or working towards it, with membership in IMC or IET.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Equipment specification, selection, and supplier compliance within an EPC setting.
  • Familiarity with design tools, techniques, and project execution methodologies.
  • Budget and schedule control experience.
  • Proficient in design safety and constructability.
  • Knowledge of electrical protection methodologies.
  • Expertise in field instrumentation, analysers, DCS, PLC, and SIS systems across the lifecycle.
  • Experience with Hazardous Area Instrumentation (ATEX) and mechanical package instrumentation requirements.
  • Competence in P&ID development and sizing of flow devices, control valves, and relief devices.
  • Global Teamwork: Experience with global integrated delivery teams is preferred.
  • Additional Attributes: Innovative approach and ability to adhere to company standards.
