Welder/Fabricator Supervisor

Location: Cheddar (occasional client site visits and work at Wales site, 2 hr drive max- Van provided)

Hourly rate: £20 per hour, with overtime pay 1.5x after 8 hours on Saturdays and 2x on Sundays.

Hours: Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 4:30pm, Friday: 8:00am - 3:30pm (some flexibility for business needs required)

Reports to: Contract Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise welding/fabrication tasks; meet deadlines and standards.

  • Manage stock levels (consumables, PPE) and ensure compliance.

  • Support recruitment and team development.
  • Occasional on-site or Wales workshop work.

Skills and Attributes:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills, with the ability to manage a small team effectively.
  • Extensive knowledge of fabrication and welding techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing work conditions.
  • Collaborative approach to teamwork, working effectively with internal and external teams.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Fabrication & Welding City and Guilds Level 3 (desirable)
  • Responsible Welding Coordinator qualification (desirable)
  • IOSH Managing Safely qualification (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Strong health and safety awareness within an engineering environment.
  • Previous experience in welding or fabrication supervision is beneficial.
  • Ability to travel to the Wales workshop as required (within a 2-hour radius of Cheddar).
