A Manufacturing client of ours in the Chelmsford area are recruiting a Group Financial Controller to join their growing team. This is a newly created role within the business and is requiring someone with Manufacturing industry knowledge and stock experience as essentials! High levels of enthusiasm and a strong team focus are essential to the success of the role. Clear, effective, and professional communication throughout the business is key.

This is a full-time permanent position working Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.30pm (30 min lunch) and paying 55,000 - 60,000 per annum depending on experience.

This Group Financial Controller's primary function is to oversee all accounting functions in the Group (3 companies). You will be responsible for the collection, analysis and consolidation of data to assist the Finance Director in the effective management of the Group's finances. This will include co-ordinating and preparing the monthly accounts, cashflows, annual budgets along with ad hoc updates and all other financial reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.

Key Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Managing all day-to-day accounting operations within the finance team of 3, to include sales ledger, purchase ledger, general ledger as well as all banking facilities.
  • Oversee the payroll function including pension contributions and benefits.
  • Support the operational purchasing and procurement team to include process compliance and costings review.
  • Cashflow management, oversee cash and optimise accounts receivable and payable processes.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly management accounts for Finance Director review along with financial analysis and supporting reconciliations.
  • Generate monthly reports for the sales team to include orders, invoices and margin analysis.
  • Ensure all records are accurate, up to date and available for audit purposes.
  • Oversee and ensure accurate VAT return completion.
  • Ability to be 'hands-on' and cover all related duties within the Team.
  • Provide the necessary analytics to support the pricing structure of the business.
  • Attendance at weekly operational meetings providing financial support.
  • Supervise and mentor finance team of 3.
  • Monitor and review the business controls and processes, reporting to the FD any inefficiencies and improvements.
  • Support the finance director in planned and ad-hoc projects.

Skills and Experience required to be considered for this Group FC position:

  • Experience in a similar role within a Manufacturing and Production industry.
  • Exposure to Stock management
  • Part or Fully ACCA / CIMA qualified (desirable)
  • Strong financial management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent numeracy, analytic and communication skills.
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure and a proven diplomatic but firm manner.
  • Strong grasp of accounting standards (audit involvement)
  • ERP experience (Sage 200 or other Sage product preferable)
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
