A leading global and integrated logistics provider, is seeking a skilled and experienced Ocean Freight Operator to join our dynamic team.
About the Role:
The Ocean Freight Operator plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of ocean freight shipments. This position requires a strong understanding of ocean freight operations, documentation, and trade terms.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage ocean freight shipments from booking to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate execution.
- Prepare and process necessary documentation, including shipping instructions, bills of lading, customs declarations, and invoices.
- Liaise with shipping lines, customs brokers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth shipment flow.
- Monitor and track shipments, providing updates to customers and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Negotiate freight rates and contract terms with shipping lines.
- Handle customs clearance procedures, including documentation and payment.
- Provide excellent customer service, addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
- Stay updated on industry regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
- Assist in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments within the company to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Analyze and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to ocean freight operations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in ocean freight operations.
- Strong understanding of ocean freight documentation and procedures.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of customs regulations and procedures is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
