CDL Personnel are currently looking for experienced Mobile Library Bus Driver in Chelmsford.

Start Date: 30th September 2024 (latest)

Hourly Rate: 15 PAYE

Working Pattern: 3 to 5 days per week, working to a 3 week schedule. Working times can be between 8-6 depending on schedule, but will be around 8 hours per day with break. One Saturday in three, Monday to Friday required. Between 22-37 hours per week.

Contract Length: estimated for 6 months.

Accountabilities
1. To welcome library users and help to deliver a quality service, working at the base or other appropriate Library as required
2. Support all stock circulation procedures including: issue and discharge of loanable items, membership routines, reservation procedures, stock maintenance, overdue procedures, to sort, shelve and tidy returned material, to liaise with library staff on stock exchange and other procedures including attendance at meetings as required.
3. To maintain and clean the vehicles in accordance with the requirements set out on the daily log sheet book including delivery and collection of vehicles for maintenance/repair.
4. To deliver books and equipment as required.
5. To comply with the individual responsibilities for Health Safety & Welfare in the workplace, including ensuring safeguarding children, in accordance with work role.
6. To participate in training and development and be responsible for self-development.
7. To support the implementation of the Service Plan, being proactive in the promotion and marketing of all services, to contribute to the provision of statistical returns and to be involved in informal customer consultation.
8. To carry out such other appropriate duties as may be required.

The Experience You Will Bring
1. Current HGV class 2 driving licence and able to drive a 12-ton vehicle
2. Experience of driving large vehicles and carrying out routine vehicle checks
3. At least 21 years old (for insurance purposes)
4. Demonstrable experience of working in a highly customer-focused environment with good communication and social skills
5. Experience working with customers from a broad and diverse range of backgrounds; Able to deliver quality customer service. Desirable is an understanding of working with elderly people
6. Future and improvement focused approach, embracing and advocating change with the ability to deliver new ways of working.
7. Understanding of working within a Local Authority or other complex organisation.
8. Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures and processes.
9. Knowledge of Data Protection (GDPR) and Freedom of Information legislation.
