Business Development Lead
  • Fixed term (12 months)
  • Location: Chelmsford Essex
  • Salary: £40,000-£50,000 Per Annum 

My client is seeking a strategic thinker with a passion for driving meaningful change to join our team as a Business Development Lead. This role is crucial for developing new income generation strategies to support our future financial sustainability and address our future ambitions.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Identify gaps and opportunities in income generation, focusing particularly on commercial initiatives.
  • Collaborate with the Board, Chief Executive, and Executive Team to develop and implement a business development strategy with initiatives tailored to the future needs of the business. 
  • Create comprehensive business cases as proposals for each existing or new commercial income opportunity.
  • Plan, deliver, and monitor new initiatives, establishing KPIs and performance metrics.
  • Foster an entrepreneurial attitude and innovative approach within the team.
  • Build partnerships across the team and encourage collaboration to develop new ideas and initiatives.
  • Utilize and develop external relationships across commercial, health and social care, and the voluntary sector.
  • Role model the values, promoting the ‘one team’ approach and supporting organizational change.
  • Maintain specialist knowledge and skills required for the role, ensuring continuous improvement of services.
  • Support the development and effective use of systems and databases to enhance service delivery.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in a commercial/business development role.
  • Proven track record of effective project management and strategic planning.
  • Strong leadership skills with an analytical mindset.
  • Well-developed verbal, written, presentation, and communication skills, including relationship management.
  • Demonstrable IT skills, proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Entrepreneurial and commercial development skills, with experience in preparing and delivering new ventures.
  • Knowledge of the specific issues facing independent hospices.
