With a strong commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, we have been serving our merchants since 2006, with a focus on continuous improvement, our family run business is seeking a dedicated and experienced Delivery Driver to join our team and lead our operations to new heights.

As a Delivery Driver, you'll play a pivotal role in our operations, being responsible for the seamless transportation and delivery of items from our distribution centre to clients or businesses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivering approx. 10 - 15 drops per day on pre routed delivery schedule, with generous timed drops allowing time to spend helping customer place goods where needed.
  • Assigned your own van to keep clean, tidy, and maintained.
  • Responsibility for daily vehicle safety checks ensuring sufficient fuel is available and vehicles comply with road safety standards.
  • Loading, transporting and delivery of items from PDC's warehouse to businesses of our valued customers in a safe and timely manner, forging relationships with them.
  • Deliver goods to a dynamic and multicultural community of customers, prioritising effective communication and sensitivity to cultural differences during deliveries. Building positive relationships using exceptional service, professionalism, courtesy, and cultural understanding.
  • Use knowledge of Highway code, driving etiquette and parking laws to maintain the highest standard of driving as a representative of the company in branded vehicles
  • Report any damage, accident or collisions as soon and as safely as possible on our reporting software.
  • Maintain vehicle and driver safety by completing daily and weekly checks, reporting any incidents or issues promptly, and ensuring compliance with road safety standards.
  • Proof of Delivery: Ensure the collection of customer signatures as proof and take clear pictures of successful delivery.
  • Navigation and Route Optimisation: Utilise navigation tools, including Max Optra software, to determine the most efficient, secure routes to delivery points and manage logistics
  • Operate and maintain proficiency with mobile devices using the company's internal software which helps schedule tasks, and track progress in real-time.
  • Review orders before and after delivery to guarantee completeness and accuracy.
  • Light warehouse duties if returning before shift end time

Requirements:

  • It is crucial for our insurance purposes that candidates are over 30 years of age
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience of driving a 3.5t long wheelbase van
  • Experience in delivery driving and warehouse operations.
  • Familiarity with navigation tools and software for route optimisation.
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy items up to 25kg
  • Good geographical knowledge of UK road network
  • Math's and English at GCSE Grade C or 4
  • Commitment to the role and reliability
  • Flexibility to be able to carry out overtime when needed
  • Please note that we are based in East Hanningfield (CM3 8EB) and you must be a Driver with permanent access to a car as we are not accessible in any way via public transport!

  • Experience of driving in and around surrounding areas of London
  • Friendly professional team player
  • Previous distribution delivery driver experience
  • Living within a 30-minute drive from CM2 8EB

Benefits:

  • 28 days Holiday (20 days plus Bank Holidays), increasing by one day after one year's service and every year up to a maximum of five years.
