We are looking for a proactive Test & Production Technician to join an established and dynamic manufacturing company based near Chelmsford. This role is crucial for testing manufactured cable assemblies, overseeing equipment maintenance, and collaborating with production engineering to improve manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will be committed to maintaining high quality and safety standards while fulfilling customer requirements.



Day-to-day Responsibilities:

  • Conduct efficient testing of manufactured cable assemblies according to customer orders.
  • Manage the maintenance and production of reference test cables and equipment, ensuring general housekeeping.
  • Collaborate with production engineering to implement and uphold best manufacturing practices.
  • Provide support to other departments to achieve customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety regulations and all internal procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Resolve problems independently or collaboratively to achieve effective results.
  • Train additional staff as needed to boost manufacturing capacity.
  • Acquire expertise in product testing, including tensile, vibration, and temperature cycling.
  • Compile reports on tests conducted and collect crucial inline data for ongoing improvement.


Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Capability to interpret customer drawings and manufacturing instructions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, quality, and finish.
  • Experience with fibre optic cable testing or similar is advantageous; training will be provided.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing techniques and RFT (Right First Time) practices.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Keenness and a proactive attitude towards learning new skills.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising both internally and externally.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively to complete tasks.
  • Professional conduct that positively represents the company to clients.
