Study Centre Advisor

We are seeking a Study Centre Advisor to play a crucial role in facilitating and overseeing the independent learning of large groups of learners. This position involves providing guidance, support, and resources to enhance their learning skills, study strategies, and academic success. The Advisor collaborates with curriculum staff, faculty, and other academic support services to develop and implement programs that foster effective learning and self-directed study habits.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Leading Learning:
    • Facilitate independent learning for large groups by providing guidance on effective learning strategies.
    • Collaborate with curriculum staff to understand the curriculum and develop strategies to support learners in their independent study.
    • Encourage learners to find imaginative approaches to overcome learning challenges and meet their personalised targets.
    • Offer guidance on time management, organization, note-taking, exam preparation, and other study skills.
    • Promote self-directed learning and encourage learners to take ownership of their academic progress.
    • Stay updated on research and best practices related to learning and study skills, and incorporate them into program development.
  • Leading People:
    • Collaborate with curriculum staff and faculty to ensure a coordinated approach to supporting learners’ independent study.
    • Act as a resource person for curriculum staff and faculty seeking guidance on facilitating independent learning.
    • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment by building a good rapport with learners.
    • Ensure learners consistently meet professional standards and expectations by employing effective behaviour management strategies within the study centres and wider college.
    • Participate in departmental and campus-wide committees, meetings, and events related to student success and academic support where required.
    • Maintain accurate and confidential records of learner interactions where required.
  • Leading Resources:
    • Develop and maintain an online repository of resources, study guides, and tutorials tailored to the curriculum.
    • Assess and recommend learning resources, including technology tools and software, to enhance learner engagement and success.
    • Ensure the availability and accessibility of learning resources for diverse learner needs.
    • Manage and allocate resources effectively to support learning programs and services.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong understanding of curriculum and effective learning strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
