Senior/Principle Electrical Hardware Engineer | Space | Chelmsford

Are you a seasoned Electronics Hardware Engineer? Do you have experience within the Aerospace and Defence Sector? Do you want the opportunity to help shape the future of international Space Imaging technology?

We are working with an Industry leading electronics design and development company within the Aerospace and Defence sector who specialise in Space Imaging technology.

They are looking to onboard a Senior/Principal Electrical hardware Engineer to work on their inhouse sensor device technology.

It will offer you the opportunity to work on a variety of technologies including CCDs, CMOS Image Detectors and ROICs. It is a multidisciplinary role including the design and testing of high-speed imaging sensors, providing you the opportunity to work in cross functional teams with market leading experts in the field.

Key responsibilities:
    • Full PCB design experience with space applications including component selection, schematic capture, analysis, documentation, stack-up definition, and administration of external layout activity.
    • Formulating and presenting concepts and designs that meet requirement specifications, for both internal and external customer needs. Update and maintenance of compliance verification matrix with respect to requirements.
    • Detailed system architecture capture of interface diagrams and charts, to enhance lifecycle documentation to navigate through gate reviews.
    • Preparing and presenting all necessary relevant electrical design documentation for gate reviews, for internal and external use.
    • Lead on driving capability within the department, including mentoring and training of engineers within the team.
    • Leading on verification and testing of electronics, and preparation of all associated documentation in a well-structured and clear way.
    • Strong understanding of the engineering lifecycle for high reliability electronics, and adherence to relevant standards is advantageous.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
    • Understanding of PCB design approaches in relation to High-Speed circuitry.
    • Capacity to create electronic designs that are innovative and add value to new and existing test systems.
    • PCB CAD skills are essential, CADENCE or ALTIUM are preferred.
    • Deep understanding of electronics and electrical interfaces.
    • Experience within Space and Defence would be desirable.
