A top Accountancy firm is seeking an experienced Accounts Manager or Senior Manager to join its accounts team based at the Chelmsford office. This role provides the opportunity to work closely with senior management, take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, and progress within a reputable firm with locations across the UK.

This position is ideal for an accounts manager with practice experience who values diligence, enjoys building client relationships, and thrives on managing multiple assignments. Strong tax expertise, including personal and corporate tax computation and advisory, is essential.Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage a client portfolio, ensuring compliance for both tax and accounting.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, working in close collaboration with a designated Director.
  • Supervise team members and manage workflow within the office.
  • Monitor and drive financial performance metrics for your portfolio, including fee levels, recoveries, work-in-progress (WIP), and debtor positions.
  • Collaborate effectively with other departments within the firm.
  • Review compliance work, such as year-end statutory accounts, VAT returns, management accounts, and personal/company tax returns.
  • Address client queries and offer advisory support where needed.
  • Assist Directors with ad hoc projects.
  • Proactively build a network of professional contacts.
Key Relationships:
  • Work alongside senior management (Directors, Associate Directors, and Senior Managers).
  • Collaborate with team members at all levels.
  • Manage a client portfolio of approximately 100 clients, spanning various entity types and sizes.
Candidate Requirements:
  • A minimum of five years of practice experience.
  • ACA/ACCA qualified for at least two years.
  • Strong tax knowledge and a client-focused approach.
