Accounts Supervisor

We are seeking an Accounts Supervisor to lead a team of four Accounts Assistants for our client. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of their Accounts Department through effective supervision, coaching, and support. The ideal candidate will be adept at managing daily financial tasks and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and company policies.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Supervise and support the Accounts Assistants to meet department deadlines and maintain high standards of work.
  • Manage daily bank payments, including updating bank sheets and ensuring sufficient funds.
  • Oversee the handling of excess, VAT emails, and debit card purchases.
  • Manage both purchase and sales inboxes, ensuring efficient communication and transaction processing.
  • Set up new suppliers/customers in our system and manage system access changes.
  • Post receipts and payments to the bank, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepare payment runs and manage related communications and documentation.
Weekly and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and manage intercompany recharges and payments.
  • Ensure all bank transactions are posted and matched in the system.
  • Conduct monthly bank reconciliations and submit reports for multiple accounts.
  • Assist in preparing tax returns and managing VAT checks.
  • Oversee supplier accruals and ensure accurate end-of-month payment schedules.
  • Conduct monthly 1-1 meetings with Accounts Assistants to review performance and provide feedback.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as an Accounts Supervisor or similar supervisory role in finance.
  • Will consider candidates looking for the next step up in their Accounts career.
  • Strong ability to coach and support staff, ensuring high performance and compliance.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficient in financial software and systems, with a preference for experience in NetSuite and Autoflow.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage internal and external financial communications effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in handling financial data.
