Head of Financial Operations Location: Chelmsford We’re looking for a Head of Financial Operations to join our Central Treasury team and drive excellence in financial operations, mentoring a talented team, and ensuring top-tier client service.The RoleAs the Head of Financial Operations, you will play a pivotal role in managing and enhancing financial processes. You’ll be at the forefront of leading a skilled team, optimizing systems, and collaborating with leadership to meet strategic objectives. Your mission? To uphold the highest standards of accuracy, compliance, and service across a broad range of bookkeeping and payroll functions.What You’ll Be Doing
  • Acting as a champion for client service excellence within the department.
  • Leading, supporting, and mentoring a dynamic team, including performance management, appraisals, and recruitment.
  • Preparing and analysing weekly KPI statistics to inform departmental strategy.
  • Overseeing critical processes, including payment run approvals, bank reconciliations, compliance logs, direct debit collections, payroll, and fee management.
  • Managing team workflows, task assignments, and holiday cover to ensure smooth operations.
  • Preparing and submitting and conducting systems audits.
  • Leading training initiatives to ensure the team and wider business are proficient in systems and processes.
  • Supporting and resolving complex client queries with a hands-on approach.
What We’re Looking For
  • Leadership: A proven track record of managing and inspiring medium-sized teams.
  • Experience: Senior bookkeeping and payroll expertise, with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with strong attention to detail.
  • Personality: Approachable, trustworthy, client-focused, and organized.
Qualifications
  • Studying towards ACCA or equivalent (or recently qualified).
