Technology Department Support Assistant (Immediate Start)

Location: Chelmsford

Salary: £13,618 - £13,840 per annum (pro-rata)

Hours: 25 hours per week (39 weeks per year)

We are looking for a dedicated and proactive Technology Department Support Assistant to join our school's Technology Department team. This role will primarily support the Food Technology and Textiles subjects, helping to maintain a safe and engaging learning environment for our students. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is organized, safety-conscious, and eager to contribute to students' learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lesson Preparation & Support: Prepare and set up resources and equipment for practical lessons in Food Technology and Textiles, assist during lessons, and clean up afterward.

- Resource Management: Order and check ingredients, maintain stock levels, and ensure equipment and materials are available and well-prepared for teachers.

- Cleaning & Maintenance: Keep food rooms clean, including laundering items as needed, performing minor equipment repairs, and arranging outside maintenance when required.

- Safety & Health Compliance: Apply and promote health and safety standards within the department.

- Practical Assistance: Assist students and teaching staff with resources and materials for hands-on activities, ensuring an engaging and safe learning experience.

Additional Duties:

- Support in preparing resources for textiles lessons, such as cutting materials.

- Ensure sewing machines and other equipment are safe and functional.

- Assist with photocopying, delivering and collecting textbooks, and other administrative tasks.

- Attend any necessary training relevant to the role.

Essential Skills and Attributes:

- Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail.

- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and respond to the needs of the department.

- Awareness of health and safety regulations and commitment to upholding them.

- Enthusiasm for supporting students' educational experiences in Food Technology and Textiles.
