Health & Safety ManagerChelmsford£50k-£55k + Car Our client is one of the largest specialist product suppliers to the construction industry, as well as others such as events, civil works, Defence & security and much more and we are proud to be supporting their search for a Health & Safety Manger, to look after multiple sites across the UK including distribution facilities/operations as well as standard commercial sites. We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Health and Safety Manager to act as the main point of contact for all H&S matters. Responsible for ensuring the Business and its operational processes comply to current Health, Safety and Environmental regulations, you will identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risk. Working with local management teams across the UK & Ireland, you will identify and drive all H&S initiatives. The H&S Manager will work alongside the Operations Director to implement the SHE strategy. Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise and assist the Operations Director in the planning, organising, controlling and maintaining a safe and healthy environment for all employees.
  • To act as the subject matter expert on all H&S matters.
  • Leadership and management of the H&S function.
  • To assist the company in establishing objectives and targets to aid continuous improvement.
  • Lead on programmes of work and new initiatives across health and safety.
  • Development and full compliance throughout the facility of Health, Safety and Environmental policies and processes.
  • To take a leading role in maintaining the highest possible standards of Health and Safety.
  • Develop and implement strategies to mitigate risk and promote a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all relevant Manuals, Procedures, Instructions, and Risk Assessments are relevant and up to date.
  • Develop and deliver H&S training programmes.
  • Ensure all Safe Systems of Work are in place and reviewed.
  • Management and investigation of all accidents on site, compiling accident statistics and carrying out thorough corrective and preventative plans.
  • Control any/all COSHH files/reports on site.
  • Oversee control of the Risk register.
 Key Skills:
  • Excellent communication & engagement skills.
  • A dynamic and highly motivated Health & Safety professional with multi-site Health & Safety Management experience.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH or associated levels of qualifications.
  • Experience in maintaining ISO14001 accreditations.
  • Up to date knowledge of Health, Safety and Environment legislation.
  • Track record of implementing Health and Safety improvement initiatives.
  • Requirement of the role to travel regularly to cover all fulfilment locations and central headquarters to engage and drive H&S objectives.
