Our client, a fast-growing and dynamic organisation in the distribution industry, is seeking a Goods In Operative to join their team in Chelmsford, Essex. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately booking in stock and ensuring it is stored in the correct locations. You'll also handle customer return requests and perform basic product testing. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organised goods-in area will be crucial to your success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately record all incoming stock, verifying items against delivery documentation and handling discrepancies as necessary.
- Place stock in the correct bin locations within the warehouse, ensuring clear and organised storage areas.
- Keep the goods-in area tidy and compliant with health and safety regulations.
- Handle customer return requests, inspecting and performing basic testing of returned items.
- Conduct simple functionality tests on returned goods and report findings accurately.
- Collaborate with the Warehouse team and other departments to ensure smooth operations and stock accuracy.
- Assist with inventory checks, stock rotation, and other warehouse-related tasks as required.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in a warehouse or stock control role is essential.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately book in stock and follow procedures.
- Comfortable with conducting basic tests on products to assess functionality.
- Physical fitness to handle and lift stock of varying sizes and weights.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment with a proactive and flexible attitude.
Preferred Skills:
- Forklift licence preferred but not essential. Training will be provided for the right candidate.
