Job title:Stock and Quality Assistant

Location:Chelmsford

Salary:£12.30 per hour

Hours:Monday to Friday, 08:00 - 17:00

Role Summary:

To be a key point of contact within the stock and quality team in any of Essex locations, from goods receipt through to dispatch, and including assisting with after sales- queries. Primary duties include, but are not limited to, daily tasks associated with the operational functions of stock receipt, storage logic and control, quality inspection and plant husbandry, and to be a key point of contact on plant identification, care, and maintenance advice. Reporting to and working closely with the Stock Control & Quality Manager, this role also encompasses a broader range of the horticultural business elements associated with GEs eCommerce services, operational processes and tasks relating to enhancing the customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communication of day-to-day questions, on work related information and relaying clear information to other colleagues.
  • To gain a clear understanding of the operational processes associated with stock receipt (inbound).
  • Conducting quality checks and plant identification of new and existing plant stock.
  • Researching and providing plant care and plant health solutions.
  • Identification of stock rotation and seasonal storage considerations.
  • To gain an understanding of the warehouse management system, electronic stock monitoring and stock level data.
  • To gain a working understanding of eCommerce operational tasks and activities.
  • To participate in the general site housekeeping and underpinning a safe working environment.
  • Associated administrative tasks within the departments that the role is aligned to throughout.
  • Confidentiality of customer records and financial information in compliance with GDPR.
  • Flexibility to gain an appreciation and carryout duties as agreed across the wider operation.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Competent IT skills - experienced in using Microsoft Office & Outlook.
  • Previous stock control and quality experience within a similar industry, preferably in FMCG, e-commerce or retail.
  • Preferred but not essential; some horticultural knowledge or background, or a willingness to learn.
