Are you an experienced SLD Teacher (KS4/KS5) looking for a rewarding opportunity to support students with severe learning difficulties? We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SLD Teacher (KS4/KS5) to join our secondary schools in Chelmsford immediately. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact on students’ education by creating engaging, accessible, and inclusive learning experiences tailored to their individual needs.

The Role:

As an SLD Teacher (KS4/KS5), you will:

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons for students with severe learning difficulties (SLD) at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
  • Use a range of communication techniques, including Makaton, PECS, and AAC, to support student engagement and understanding.
  • Work closely with SEN support staff, therapists, and families to develop and implement personalised education plans (EHCPs).
  • Foster a nurturing and structured learning environment that promotes independence and life skills.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant SEN teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience working with students with SLD, complex needs, and communication difficulties.
  • Strong knowledge of multi-sensory teaching approaches and assistive technology.
  • A patient, adaptable, and proactive approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Experience working with behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques.
