Role Overview: Lead choirs, engage with local communities and help members develop their musical skills and confidence.

A Rock Choir Leader plays a pivotal role in guiding and nurturing a community of singers, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and musical expertise to the group. What We Offer:

  • Flexible part-time and full-time, self-employed role (Mon-Thurs, 30 weeks/year + 6 training sessions)

Requirements:

The right candidate will have the following assets, be able to enhance the musicality of the choirs they run as well as fostering a sense of camaraderie and community among the singers.

  • Proficient in reading music/chords, piano playing, and singing
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car
  • Own PA system, keyboard, and head mic
  • Charismatic, energetic, committed, and self-motivated
  • Ability to create an inclusive teaching environment
  • Willingness to participate in events/admin outside regular rehearsal times
  • Strong organisational skills for managing administrative tasks

Desired Skill

  • Professional experience as a Vocal Coach
  • Degree or equivalent in Music
  • Professional level performance experience 
  • Instrumental teaching 
  • Previous work experience with vocal groups, orchestras or community choirs

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, plan and deliver weekly 1.5-hour Choir sessions during term times (3x10 week terms/year) for each choir location (minimum of 3 locations and up to 6)
  • Teach contemporary Rock Choir material (3-4 songs/term) using provided resources
  • Create a fun, inclusive, and social learning environment
  • Utilise your piano and vocal skills to deliver high-quality musical instruction
  • Handle administrative tasks: emails, simple advertising (posters), update social media, organise performance opportunities etc.
  • Attend twice-termly meetings and training events three times a year
