Our client, is currently seeking a Principal Planning Policy Officer on a contract basis to contribute to the development of the local plan.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Reviewing and interpreting complex evidence base documents to formulate policies that respond to the outcomes of that evidence.
  • Conducting complex analysis of data and information to create evidence that supports plan making and decision taking, including statutory reporting.
  • Advising members on the options and challenges they need to address through the local Plan and incorporating their feedback into policies.
  • Drafting policies and their justifications.
  • Creating planning guidance.
  • Reviewing engagement outcomes and adjusting policies accordingly.
  • Presenting evidence in writing and in person in respect of the plan, including appearing at the Examination in Public (EiP) for the plan.
  • Coaching junior members of the team.


Job Requirements:

  • Experience in planning policy within the high technology and planning sector.
  • Excellent analytical skills to interpret complex data and evidence.
  • Strong ability to draft and justify planning policies.
  • Competence in providing sound advice and incorporating feedback into policy development.
  • Capability to present evidence effectively in both written and verbal forms.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior team members.
