Job Title: Senior Quantity Surveyor – Infrastructure Projects (NEC Contract Expertise)

Location: Chelmsford

Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC contract knowledge and exceptional stakeholder management skills to join our team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in the successful delivery of major infrastructure projects. You will be responsible for the commercial and monetary management of projects, including remeasures, approving estimates, and managing payment applications, all while ensuring effective communication and collaboration with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the commercial management of large-scale infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with the NEC contract requirements.
  • Take ownership of remeasures, ensuring the accuracy and consistency of all cost reporting throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Approve and assess estimates, ensuring they align with agreed project budgets and commercial objectives.
  • Manage and process payment applications, ensuring all payments are made in line with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Provide regular and accurate cost forecasts and identify potential risks to budget or programme, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, and internal project teams, to ensure smooth and effective project delivery.
  • Provide advice on contract interpretation and the management of variations in accordance with NEC contract principles.

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with significant expertise in managing major infrastructure projects under NEC contracts.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a proven ability to manage project costs, control budgets, and deliver value for money.
  • In-depth experience with remeasuring, approving estimates, and handling payment applications in line with contractual agreements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, project teams, and subcontractors.
  • Extensive knowledge of NEC contract provisions and the ability to manage changes and disputes in accordance with NEC terms.
  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field, with RICS accreditation preferred.
