Job Title: Senior Highway Engineer (Development Management)
Location: Chelmsford
Salary: 42,679 to 50,211 per annum
Employment Type: Permanent, Full-Time
The Role
We are seeking a Senior Highway Engineer to manage developer-funded highway infrastructure projects as part of the Highways Integrated Services contract. You will ensure designs and constructions meet Highway Authority standards for adoption as public highways.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee highway works to ensure compliance with planning obligations and policies.
- Manage budgets, schedules, and quality for projects.
- Lead consultations with Local Planning Authorities and ensure legal agreements are in place.
- Provide technical direction to team members and liaise with stakeholders.
- Offer advice on highway-related matters to Councillors, District Members, and the public.
Skills and Experience
- Degree or equivalent experience in highways/transportation.
- Extensive knowledge of Highway legislation (Highway Act 1980, CDM 2015) and Health & Safety.
- Project management experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
