We are excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate and skilled Teacher of DT to join our successful Design & Technology faculty at a secondary school in Chelmsford. Our purpose-built block features state-of-the-art facilities, including two well-equipped workshops, two textiles rooms, two food rooms, and an ICT suite dedicated to Design & Technology. Our department reflects the school's commitment to putting students at the centre of their learning journey, and we pride ourselves on keeping up to date with the latest technologies and teaching methods.

As a Teacher of DT, you will be working with a variety of cutting-edge resources, including computer-controlled devices, CAD packages, and a large bed laser cutter. You will play a crucial role in delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to develop their skills in Design & Technology from KS3 through to GCSE.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach Design & Technology across KS3 and KS4, with a focus on subjects such as Resistant Materials, Textiles, and Food Preparation and Nutrition
  • Deliver lessons that incorporate CAD/CAM technology, ensuring students are equipped with the latest industry-standard skills in Chelmsford
  • Work with students from Year 7 through to Year 11, helping them develop both practical and theoretical understanding in Design & Technology
  • Support students through a range of modular courses and GCSE-level studies, with a balance of coursework and exam preparation
  • Inspire students to choose Design & Technology as a GCSE option, contributing to the department's ongoing success and popularity among students
Curriculum Overview:
  • At KS3, students follow a 12-week modular course in Resistant Materials, Textiles, and Food, with Design Technology delivered for two periods per week
  • At GCSE, students can opt to study Design Technology (Timber or Textiles - AQA Specification) or Food Preparation and Nutrition, with five lessons spread across a two-week timetable
  • Students use CAD/CAM technology, including a large bed laser cutter, as part of their practical work
