TeacherActive is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant to join our team in Chelmsford. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive educational environment, helping students with varying special needs reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
- Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s needs.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Support classroom teachers in delivering lessons and adapting materials to suit the needs of SEN students.
- Monitor and record students’ progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.
- Help with the personal care and daily living activities of students when necessary.
- Collaborate with other professionals, including therapists and educational psychologists, to ensure holistic support for students.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children with special educational needs is highly desirable.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification) is preferred but not essential.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with students.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help children succeed.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A valid DBS check or the willingness to undergo one.
