IT Manager / Developer with PICK UniVerse skills required by a Manaufacturing/distribution company based near Chelmsford. Paying in the region of 60k.


You will lead a small team to support and enhance IT functions across the organisation with a user base of Circa 300 across the UK and US.


The main systems application is UniVerse/Pick based and is still evolving with development a constant task.
Ideal candidate would have experience of PICK / UniVerse or any derivatives such as VMARK, Reality etc. Other useful knowledge would include SQL (ODBC), Java, Python.
This is very much a hands on role and will encompass duties across the IT function, including :-

Ensure the functionality of third-party software including installation, configuration and upgrades. Maintain written procedures for the above where applicable. To innovatively recommend upgrades and alternatives to existing software packages to further meet the company's current and future business needs.
Answer user enquiries in connection with the operation of software or new enhancement requests.
Maintain and configure all Information Technology security liaising with third parties where applicable. Recommend any improvements to existing security arrangements and procedures to further protect the company's information systems.
Install, configure and maintain all aspects of the above, liaising with third parties where applicable. Recommend any improvements to existing electronic communication services to further meet our company's needs. Maintain written procedures for the above where applicable.
Ensure the continuing correct operation of the company websites. Monitor traffic on the website and recommend improvements to maximize visitors and its effectiveness as a marketing tool. Monitor and improve the prominence of the website in search engines. Liaise with the Marketing department on matters concerning the company's web sites.

The role will involve working closely with the Board and specifically with the Director with extensive knowledge and expertise of the infrastructure and Application. This is an office based role Mon-Fri.
