We are currently looking for passionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistants to join our team, working with students who have Mild Learning Disabilities (MLD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
Role Overview:As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual students, supporting their learning and social development. You will be responsible for assisting with tailored educational plans, promoting engagement in class activities, and ensuring the well-being of the student in and outside of the classroom. This is a rewarding role where you can make a significant impact on the student's educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to students with MLD, Autism, or SEMH needs, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Assist the classroom teacher in delivering tailored lessons and educational materials.
- Encourage and support the student's social and emotional development, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Help manage behavior in a positive, respectful, and proactive manner.
- Work with other professionals, such as speech therapists or educational psychologists, to meet the student's needs.
- Maintain clear and accurate records of the student's progress and behavior.
- Promote inclusion and independence within the learning environment.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience working with children with MLD, Autism, or SEMH needs is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting children.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors in a calm and constructive manner.
- Understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, Autism Awareness, or SEMH training) is preferred but not essential.
