We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a school in Chelmsford. This role focuses on providing support for high-needs children, ensuring they can access learning in a safe and inclusive environment.
Role Overview:As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will be working directly with high-needs children, helping them to overcome barriers to learning, and supporting their educational and social development. You will be providing personalized support, ensuring that the child's needs are met both academically and emotionally. This is a rewarding role where your dedication and care will make a lasting impact.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide 1:1 support to children with a range of complex learning needs, including physical, emotional, and social difficulties.
- Support the child's access to the curriculum and ensure their participation in classroom activities.
- Assist in the development and delivery of individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Promote positive behavior management, using strategies to support the child in overcoming challenges.
- Support the emotional well-being of the child, helping to build their confidence and self-esteem.
- Work closely with class teachers and other staff to monitor and track progress, adapting support as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of the child's progress and communicate with parents or caregivers when required.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Experience working with high-needs children, particularly those with additional learning or emotional needs.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards children with complex needs.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and support staff.
- Ability to manage challenging behaviors calmly and effectively.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection protocols.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, First Aid, Autism/SEMH training) are desirable but not essential.
