Job Description:
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher to work with students with profound and multiple learning difficulties. The ideal candidate will have experience in working with students with complex needs and a deep understanding of the strategies required to provide exceptional learning experiences. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with PMLD.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging, individualised and effective lessons tailored to students with profound and multiple learning difficulties.
Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team (including teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff) to create and implement personalised learning plans.
Use a variety of communication tools and strategies, such as Makaton, PECs, and assistive technology, to support student learning.
Regularly assess and monitor students' progress, adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
Ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment for students.
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student development.
Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of the department and school.
Person Specification:
A QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) is preferred.
Previous experience working with students with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD) or other complex needs is highly desirable.
A deep understanding of the challenges faced by students with PMLD and a commitment to providing tailored, creative teaching solutions.
Knowledge and experience in using communication aids and strategies (e.g., Makaton, PECs, or assistive technologies).
