Vehicle Mechanic - (Full time or Part Time) Chelmsford, Essex £35,000 - £40,000 DOE

Our client would accept candidates who are looking for part time hours also.

They are looking for an experienced Auto Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles, plant and equipment. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues and fixing them aiming to maximum reliability and functionality.

The Role:

  • Inspect vehicle engine and mechanical/electrical components to diagnose issues accurately
  • Inspect vehicle computer and electronic systems to repair, maintain and upgrade
  • Conduct routine maintenance work (replacing fluids, lubricating parts etc.) aiming to vehicle functionality and longevity
  • Repair or replace broken or dysfunctional parts and fix issues (e.g. leaks)
  • Keep logs on work and issues
  • Maintain equipment and tools in good condition
  • Be resourceful when it comes to making use of older / newer parts to resolve issues
  • Undertake other duties as assigned

The Candidate:

  • Proven experience as auto mechanic
  • Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic components of vehicles
  • Fleet predominately based on light commercial vehicles and pick up trucks (4x4)
  • Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods
  • Ability to handle various tools and heavy equipment
  • Willingness to observe all safety precautions for protections against accidents, dangerous fluids, chemicals etc.
  • Experienced Level 3 Mechanical Technician or equivalent essential
  • Experience with working with, fixing and maintaining plant & equipment (CPCS accreditation preferred but not essential)
  • A strong team ethic working in with a small team of mechanics / supervisors
  • To undertake other duties as requested by your manager.
  • Experience and understanding of working with older vehicles preferred

Hours of Work:Monday to Friday, 8am - 5pm (flexibility required)
