An established Cotswold business hub is launching an innovative in-house retail concept. This unique setup includes six enormous, interconnected shepherd huts with a covered and landscaped courtyard. The new retail space will offer a variety of convenience retail items through creative and exciting displays, including cheese, wine, fruit and vegetables, health products, news, and gifts.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Retail Manager to lead the launch and ongoing management of this project. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in similar senior roles within the Cotswolds area, possess strong commercial acumen, and demonstrate the ability to build and manage a successful retail team. This role includes significant responsibilities in the pre-launch phase and will be critical in establishing the project as an industry leader.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advise on the build period - customer flow / chiler dimensions / back of house logistics
  • Head up all buying activities and manage relationships with suppliers and stockists to ensure a diverse and high-quality product range.
  • Oversee the profit and loss of the business, ensuring the financial health and profitability of the project.
  • Set up and manage accounts and electronic point of sale (EPOS) systems.
  • Monitor and manage the customer experience to ensure high levels of satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Oversee stock management to maintain optimal inventory levels and minimize waste.
  • Recruit, build, and manage a retail team, including creating and managing staff rotas.
  • Regularly report to senior management on performance, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Drive the development and growth of the brand, positioning it as a leader in the industry.
  • Actively participate during the build period, advising on flow, floor plans, fit out, and supplier selection.
  • Lead the launch activities, ensuring a smooth and successful opening.
  • Liaise with the Estate marketing executive to develop and execute effective marketing strategies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Senior-level experience in a similar role within Cotswolds retail hubs.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen with experience managing P & L statements.
  • Proficiency in setting up and managing accounts and EPOS systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Experience in stock management and inventory control.
  • Proven ability to recruit, manage, and develop a team.
  • Strong communication and reporting skills.
  • Enthusiastic, creative, and driven to build a brand from the ground up.
  • Ability to work effectively during the build phase and lead a successful launch.
