A Cyber Security R&D specialist that deliver high-end security research and bespoke solutions to some of the most interesting cybersecurity clients in the UK Defence and national security industry are looking to add to their Infrastructure Engineering team.

You will provide systems, security and support required to deliver our cutting-edge research and solutions. You will be a key part of the business, enabling the smooth running of IT and infrastructure services as they continue to grow and evolve.

  • Hands-on designing, creating and maintaining multiple on-premises air-gapped and Internet-connected networks to support technical research.
  • Pro-actively identifying and managing IT security risks, and effectively communicating any areas of concern including offering recommendations for resolutions.
  • Identifying opportunities to streamline processes such as opportunities for automation and infrastructure as code.
  • Owning and implementing IT projects.
  • Collaborating with the other teams in the business to ensure our IT infrastructure remains fit-for-purpose.
The ideal candidate will have
  • Experience in a similar infrastructure role with a good knowledge of Windows and Linux.
  • Experience provisioning and managing physical servers, including patching, back-ups, and troubleshooting.
  • A demonstrable ability to manage and secure VPNs and firewalls.
  • Previous experience implementing local and network-based security controls, security logging and monitoring.
  • Experience implementing and configuring MDM and lifecycle management solutions, e.g. Intune, SCCM/DMAC.
  • Experience administering virtual environments, e.g. OpenStack, VMware, Hyper-V.
  • Previous experience implementing LDAP / Access Control Groups.
  • Common infrastructure tools and languages, e.g. Docker, Python.
  • Managing air-gapped networks.
  • Experience configuring cloud-based technologies e.g. Office 365, AWS.
  • An ability to manage multiple streams of responsibility, prioritising tasks for the team, according to varying deadlines.
  • A pro-active attitude with an excellent track record of mentoring team members and a desire to pitch in with whatever needs doing.
  • A friendly and approachable attitude to all staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience authoring, updating and reviewing technical documentation.
  • Maintain and develop organisational culture, values and reputation with all staff, customers, suppliers, and partners.
