Duties and Responsibilities
- create COSHH assessments from the gathering of SDS data and proposed operational usage to the specification of engineering controls such as LEV and the use of specific PPE as required
- Work with the HS&E Advisors in the approval of new materials and chemicals ensuring that suitable and sufficient assessments are created, or reviewed where already in use
- Record all COSHH risk assessments in the software system. Note operational controls and actions in the mango software system for the tracking to closure of mitigation actions
- Work with the HS&E Advisors to identify suitable PPE for the use of employees when working with chemicals
Skills
- The post holder must be able to operate independently and flexibly, but within pre-determined guidelines ad procedures
- They must be able to demonstrate a high degree of discretion and sensitivity whilst maintaining company confidentiality
- They will have excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills along with tact and diplomacy
- They will have experience of working in a manufacturing environment
- Computer literate and with good administrative skills
- SharePoint, Mango and Word skills advantageous
Qualifications
- 2 years experience in undertaking COSHH assessments in a high hazard environment
- Knowledge of industrial chemistry ideally including electroplating
- Able to pick up and use bespoke IT system for the assessment of chemical procedures
- CRB authorisation
