Our client, a Top 30 Law Firm, is looking for a skilled Trust and Tax Manager to join our Trusts and Probate team within the Tax, Trusts, and Succession group in Cheltenham.

Location and Environment:

Role Description:

This role involves working with private clients and various partners within the Tax, Trusts & Succession group, perfect for those aiming to advance their careers in a well-recognized, collaborative team.

Team Interaction:

Collaborate with teams from Private Property, Tax, Trusts, and Succession across the UK and internationally. We pride ourselves on delivering personalized services and building lasting client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage your own client portfolios.
  • Address and resolve tax planning and succession issues.
  • Manage relationships with grant-making and applicant charities.
  • Prepare and submit trust accounts and tax returns, including inheritance tax returns.
  • Calculate trustees liabilities for IHT, CGT, and Income Tax.
  • Attend and document trustees meetings.
  • Handle payments and distributions from trusts.
  • Conduct investment reviews and monitor portfolio performance.
  • Interpret and review trust deeds with team input.
  • Keep managers and partners informed on progress and assist with billing.
  • Manage a substantial and varied workload efficiently.
  • Supervise and guide junior team members.
  • Comply with all relevant regulatory obligations, including SRA Standards and Regulations.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience in accounts and trust taxation.
  • STEP qualification is an advantage but not required.
  • Proficient in computerized accounts and tax software.
  • Strong team collaboration and mentoring skills.
  • Good judgment and understanding of clients needs.
  • Effective time management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Excellent at building rapport with clients.
  • Proficient in IT, including MS Office.
