Key Responsibilities:
  1. Patient Care:

    • Assess and monitor the health and well-being of residents, ensuring their needs are met.
    • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, following care plans and protocols.
    • Provide wound care, manage chronic conditions, and respond to medical emergencies.
  2. Health Monitoring:

    • Regularly take and record vital signs, such as temperature, blood pressure, and pulse.
    • Observe and report any changes in residents health or behavior to senior nursing staff or healthcare professionals.
  3. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, care plans, and medication charts.
    • Document care provided and any incidents or changes in the resident's condition.
  4. Communication:

    • Liaise with residents, families, and healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
    • Communicate effectively with the care team, providing handovers at the beginning and end of shifts.
  5. Support and Supervision:

    • Provide guidance and support to care assistants and junior staff, ensuring they follow care protocols.
    • Participate in team meetings and contribute to the development of care strategies and plans.
  6. Compliance and Safety:

    • Adhere to all relevant health and safety regulations, including infection control procedures.
    • Ensure that all care provided is in line with CQC standards and the care homes policies.
  7. Resident Advocacy:

    • Advocate for the rights and dignity of residents, ensuring their preferences and needs are respected.
    • Engage with residents to provide emotional support and promote a positive living environment.
Skills Required:
  • Clinical Expertise: Strong nursing skills, including medication administration, wound care, and health assessments.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Adaptability: Ability to quickly adapt to new environments and care teams, providing consistent and high-quality care.
  • Empathy and Compassion: A caring and compassionate approach to patient care, with a focus on maintaining residents' dignity.
  • Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills, especially in emergency situations.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Registered Nurse (RN): Must be a registered nurse with a valid NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) pin.
