The Burford Recruitment Company are excited to be working with our clients as they look for a Groundsman/Houseman to join their prestigious private estate near Cheltenham. This hands-on role is ideal for a practical and proactive individual with relevant experience working on a large estate or busy farm. Working alongside an exceptional team, you will contribute to the day-to-day upkeep of the estate and its commercial properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Estate Manager to ensure the smooth running of the estate and execute daily maintenance tasks.
  • General estate upkeep, including property exterior maintenance, path and drive care, and waste management.
  • Undertake minor repairs such as fixing light sockets, unblocking sinks, and basic carpentry and plumbing tasks.
  • Assist the gardening team with routine tasks, such as mowing, weeding, and watering.
  • Support with car cleaning and maintenance, including ensuring vehicles are fuelled and in top condition.
  • Provide occasional driving duties and assistance with large deliveries.
  • Promote and protect estate habitats, supporting the care of animals and endangered species.
  • Assist the house team during large events to ensure seamless execution.
  • Operate machinery for groundskeeping and maintenance tasks (certifications required).

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrable practical skills in estate maintenance or a similar environment, such as a busy working farm.
  • Sound knowledge of groundwork and machinery operation.
  • A full, clean driving license with experience driving 4×4 vehicles, towing trailers, and operating machinery.
  • Physically fit and capable of performing hands-on tasks in varied conditions.
  • A proactive approach, with excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
