Systems Engineer (Landing Gear Integration)

Location: Gloucester, UK (Hybrid)

Company Overview: Join our clients dynamic engineering team in Gloucester, where they are at the forefront of landing gear integration for a variety of Civil & Military aircraft programmes. Their site (including a brand new, state of the art engineering facility) supports all stages of the landing gear lifecycle, including development, testing, production, assembly and Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO).

Position Overview: Our client is seeking talented and motivated Systems Engineers to join their Systems Integration and Test Department. As a Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the development and integration of landing gear systems, ensuring that all requirements are properly defined, validated, verified and flowed down to internal and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Integrate mechanical and/or hydraulic systems on the landing gear.
  • Plan engineering activities alongside the Engineering Group Leader and Programme Chief Engineer to ensure successful development and certification of the landing gear system.
  • Provide technical oversight of equipment supplier requirements and liaise with suppliers to ensure project progress.
  • Generate System/Equipment Requirements Definitions, Validation Matrices, Verification Matrices, and other deliverables required by the Validation & Verification process.
  • Write Declarations of Design Performance documentation.

Job Objectives:

  • Liaise with other engineering functions to generate and validate requirements for major modifications to in-service landing gear programmes.
  • Understand the product breakdown structure and the verification means and evidence used to certify the product.
  • Collaborate with Design and Analysis, and Performance and Dynamics teams to appreciate the design process and key design drivers.
  • Work with Safety and Reliability engineers to assess and communicate the impact of requirement updates on existing and new designs.
  • Potentially undertake performance and dynamics, and/or safety analysis for modifications.
  • Assist the SAI team in delivering early requirements and architecture concepts for new bids.
  • Aid the architect in liaising between different divisions to understand functional allocation and integration activities.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or a related field, however, alternative qualifications (i.e. HND) will be considered with relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in systems engineering, preferably within the aerospace industry.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems integration.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively.
