Job Title: Machine Shop Team Leader

Location: Cheltenham

Contract Details: Permanent, Full-Time

Salary: £33,000 to £37,000 per year

Working Hours: Monday to Thursday from 07:30 AM to 04:00 PM, with an early finish at 12:30 PM on Fridays

Responsibilities:

  • Leading a team of skilled machinists within the machine shop
  • Delivering projects on time and within budget
  • Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
  • Managing production schedules and resource allocation
  • Monitoring and improving the team's performance
  • Collaborating with other departments to optimise operations
  • Providing technical guidance and support to team members
  • Identifying areas for process improvement and implementing solutions
  • Conducting regular team meetings and performance reviews

Essential (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Solid knowledge of setting and operating 3, 4, 5 axis machines
  • Experience with CNC milling and turning machines
  • Proficiency with Fanuc and Haidenhain controls
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience as a Team Leader or Supervisor
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Desirable (Knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience):

  • Experience with CNC Bridgeport and CNC Haas machines
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles
  • Familiarity with aerospace quality standards and regulations
